Mike Golden, Director of Chestefield County's Parks and Recreation Department, points out the severe shortage of recreational facilities and the need for partnership with the community in a Sept. 12 article in the Chesterfield Observer.
Mike is coordinating with the Beth Williams Field of Dreams Foundation in the planning and design phase of our inaugural project at Evergreen.
Check out the article. It confirms that the work of "Field of Dreams" is needed in Chesterfield and literally any community that is experiencing rapid growth.

Neighbors Build Touching Tribute to Beth Williams

Matt and Terri Poole, who have been long time neighbors of the Williams Family, made a touching gesture in the form of a small park in memory of Beth Williams. The park setting, which is situated on the edge of their Walton Lake property adjacent to the Williams' property, may be familiar to many who viewed Beth's farewell video shown at her memorial service in November. This is the same spot that Beth sat as the camera rolled and she calmly, courageously, humorously, and at times tearfully said goodbye to her family, her many friends, and her extended family. Not surprisingly, even in a situation that most would not be able to do given her circumstances, she just faced the camera and had the ability to say goodbye to those she loved, showing the same amazing characteristics for which she had become all too well known during her cancer fights.Bands Set for Gala

Metro-Richmond's favorite party band, Flat Elvis consists of the greatest group of guys you'll ever meet. Their tunes from the 80's and 90's make you feel like you're back in college (or still in college -- whatever the case may be). A very special thank you to Flat Elvis' Kurt Negaard and Chris Dabney for lining up the entertainment and being a driving force behind the 1st Annual Field of Dreams Gala.
Based in Richmond, VA, Souler Coaster is a nine-piece band specializing in danceable Funk, R&B, and Disco music of the '70s, with live horns, four vocalists, guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, and percussion.

Paula Zahn Joins the Field of Dreams Team
We are excited to announce that Paula Zahn, formerly of FOX News and CNN's NOW, has joined the Beth Williams Field of Dreams Foundation as our Honorary Chairwoman. Paula and Beth first met in 1997, when CBS' 48 Hours was preparing to feature the Williams family on a segment which looked at new medical techniques that have changed lives.
Beth was pregnant when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. There was a time just previous to her diagnosis that women in her situation would be advised to have an abortion and begin immediate chemotherapy treatment. Beth opted instead for what was then a very new alternative to continue the pregnancy and delay chemotherapy until later in her term. As the CBS corespondent on the 48 Hours story, Paula Zahn was there with Jim and Beth Williams before, during, and after the birth of their son Mac, November of 1997.
Paula will have a key role in our marketing efforts and has agreed to be featured on our upcoming DVD that will tell the Beth Williams story and detail the mission of the Field of Dreams Foundation.
